was sent home, thanks to the intervention of Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

The body arrived at the family's native Pulivendula in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. "The last rites will be performed here today. The family is distressed," L Suresh Reddy, a relative of the deceased told TOI on Thursday morning.



Arava Kiran Kumar Reddy died of a heart attack on April 6 at Aberdeen. His family lives in KPHB colony, Hyderabad.

When L Suresh Reddy contacted Sushma Swaraj for help in bringing back the body home to India from UK, the Consulate General of India, Edinburgh, reacted promptly in setting the process in motion. Vijay Dwivedi, additional private secretary to Minister of External Affairs, pursued the matter.

"The body is being sent today to Hyderabad via Glasgow-Dubai flight," the Consulate General of India in Scotland informed the family on April 18. "The consulate prepared all the necessary documents for transportation of the body to a Naveen."


Arava Kiran Kumar Reddy was said to have been alone at home when he suffered a heart stroke. He was employed as a deputy manager in a company in London. Though he married a year ago, his wife was in India when the family learnt about his death.
