CHICAGO: Indian playback singer,
Arijit Singh, supported by a state-of-the-art symphony orchestra, performed live before a 10,000-strong audience in Chicago recently. Purnima Nath, a well-known Chicago-based singer, anchored the show.
The 28-year-old singer kick-started the programme with the number
Tum hi ho. This was followed by a wave of soulful numbers as
Suno na sang-e-marmar, Mohabbat barsa dena tu saawan aaya hai, Aaj phir tum pe pyaar aaya hai, Jo bheji thi dua who jaa ke aasmaan, Dil sambhal ja zara, Woh ankhyaan kare jee huzoori, Kabhi jo baadal barse and
Muskurane ki wajah tum ho. He also sang a few numbers composed by the late Aadesh Srivastava, and paid rich tributes to him. “I thank the members of my symphony orchestra too for their wonderful performance,” said Arijit, at the end of the programme.
“Our commitment to entertain music lovers will continue unabated. Many more high-profile events, aimed at bringing qualitatively-rich entertainment, are in the pipeline,” said one of the organizers.
