Memphis Indians bask in Holi spirit
All of India basked in the spirit of Holi on March 02, to welcome the spring season.
For Indians sitting a few thousand miles away in Memphis, USA, the distance certainly was no factor. As if to empathize with the community, the weather gods too smiled warmly, the biting cold giving way to a pleasant weekend, with temperatures hitting 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
So the morning of March 03 saw people flocking to WC
Certain adjustments had to be made in keeping with the law of the land- no bonfire and no cow dung fuel. But no one was complaining.
The spirit mattered most, and it drew in people from other communities as well.
Age was no bar, as the young and the old, boys and girls, men and women sprayed each other in colours, and grooved to peppy Bollywood numbers.
And no Indian festival is complete without some mouth-watering delicacies. Samosas, chicken tandoori and biryani- whether home cooked or ordered from outside- just to name a few in the elaborate menu laid out.
In the end, it was the feeling of love and bonding that triumphed.
