Bangladesh's Victory Day celebrated in Atlanta

observed Bangladesh's Bijoy Dibash (Victory day) on December 16 at the Berkmer High School,

Atlanta

Georgia. The celebration was marked with rich traditions that reflect the unique culture and customs of Bangladesh. This special day was to commemorate the victory of the allied forces in the

Bangladesh Liberation War

in 1971. The welcome notes were from Mohammed Mowla Dilu and by the notable dignitary present on the occasion, the state senator Sheikh Rahman.


The night presented by Atlanta Cultural Society featured performances by many local artistes who performed acts based on the art, culture and history of Bangladesh. The memorable presentation among them was a Geeti Alekhya 'Surjodoyer Gaan' which created the scenario as its people had accompanied in the 1971 struggle for

Bangladesh independence

. Debadrita Goswami, who sang a melodious song, was accompanied by in harmonica by Ahin Das Mohsin Haq. Popular songs including Dhanadhanya Pushpo Bhora, Muktiro Mandiro Sopano Tole and O Amar Desher Mati enthralled the audience. Bangladesh

to Altanta.

The panel discussion session took pride around the significance of the day and as a mark of a tribute to the architects of an independent Bangladesh. The event also had special attractions from different vendors ranging from sarees to jewelleries. Mouthwatering food was also on platter in the venue, which the attendees relished. The master of ceremonies for the night were Shaminul Islam Shamim and Maisun Maliha, who kept the crowd entertained throughout.
