JEDDAH: The Lulu group, a popular Indian retail chain based in Abu Dhabi, will open its 100th outlet soon. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qassimi, the ruler of Ras al-Khaimah, will inaugurate the outlet at RAK Mall, also built by the group, on April 26, Yusuff Ali MA, Lulu Group's MD, announced at a press conference in Dubai.
Despite the global financial meltdown and recessive trends, Lulu maintains a strong presence and retains market leadership in almost all countries where it operates and successfully manages 10 shopping malls with hypermarkets in them in the Gulf region, Ali explained.
He said the Lulu group owes its popularity to its "inflation-curbing" steps, as it has signed an agreement with the ministry of economy for freezing prices of essential commodities.
The Lulu hypermarkets which also won the Dubai Quality Award now have a web-store on their minds as part of their future plans. This would be launched soon in the UAE before making a foray into other gulf markets, Ali added.
