IRVING (Texas): The Indian community in Texas recently celebrated Ganesh Utsav with fervour, as a crowd of around 400 people gathered at the DFW Hindu temple cultural hall on the occasion. Children and adults both participated in music and dance programmes.
The carnival commenced with Ganesh arti followed with the distribution of
prasad and performances by volunteers.
There were food stalls and a free toy train ride for children around the temple premises, besides jump-and-slide bouncers for kids. A six-foot-tall eco-friendly idol of Shri Ganesh was worshipped on the occasion. The Ganesh Utsav started with Ganesh Sthapana and abhishek on September 17, Garba on September 18, a cultural show on 19th and a carnival on the 20th. There is also Satyanarayan Katha planned for September 25 and Visarjan is scheduled on September 26. About 30 volunteers cooked the
maha prasad, a volunteer technician organized the sound-and-lighting, others helped with photographing/videographing the event.
