Mom's lovers held for infant's murder

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kadakkavoor police on Thursday arrested two more persons in connection with the alleged murder of eight-month-old baby at Kadakkavoor. The police identified them as Ajesh Kumar (31) of Mamom and Sanal (41) of Tholikode. They are arraigned as second and third accused respectively in the case. The police had on Wednesday arrested the first accused Chandraprabha, who is also the mother of the baby.
The police said that contrary to the statement of Chandraprabha, it turned out that Ajesh had also actively taken part in the murder. Sanal is booked for abetment of crime as Chandraprabha and Ajesh dared to commit the crime following the offer by Sanal that he would protect Chandraprabha if they got rid of the baby.
Both the men were in an illicit relationship with Chandraprabha. Sanal, who was an electrician employed in a Gulf country, abandoned her after she started an affair with Ajesh, an autorickshaw driver. He suspected that the baby belonged to Ajesh. As Ajesh was not ready to accept the paternity of the baby, Chandraprabha had no option but turn to Sanal for a secure future. It was then that Sanal demanded to get rid of the baby.
The alleged crime took place on May 8.
