AHMEDABAD: At 42, Pravin Tambe is perhaps one of the oldest cricketers playing in the Indian Premier League. But his enthusiasm and attitude on the field has given that number a new definition.
His bowling, of course is a bonus for any team he plays for. Here, playing for Rajasthan Royals, he has given many younger players a complex if not a run for their money.
After his hat-trick against KKR in Ahmedabad on Monday, Tambe is now the joint highest wicket-taker with 12 scalps and shares the spot with Mohit Sharma.

"I know my limitations and I also know my abilities so I always try to bowl accordingly," said the leggie after bowling a match turning spell of 4-0-26-3.
"I always try to bowl wicket to wicket and cramp the batsman for room and wait for them to make mistakes," added Tambe who is all praise for Royals' mentor Rahul Dravid for being the source of energy and inspiration in the RR dressing room.
Interestingly, it was Dravid who had roped Tambe into the playing XI despite all odds during last year's IPL and he has not looked back since. He even picked up the Golden Ball award in the CLT20.
"Whatever is said of that man won't be enough. He is a huge source of motivation. It is because of people like him that we believe in ourselves as a team. We believe in our abilities and keep fighting till the end. Even today, when KKR was almost running away with the game we kept coming hard at them.
"We knew that one over can change the complexion of the game and that's what happened," said Tambe and added: "It is always difficult to chase, no matter what is the total. If it is a low score, you can even make it difficult by putting enough pressure while bowling."
