LUCKNOW: Special prayers will be offered for the country's prosperity at various place of worship in the city on
Independence Day, August 15. Many multiplexes will also show patriotic movies to children for free on August 15.
According to district administration officials, on August 15 prayers will be offered at 5.30am at all mosques, temples, gurudwaras, churches, bahai and Buddhist temples.
District magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said prominent religious leaders from the city will coordinate programmes at various places of worship.
After the prayers, a siren will be sounded around 7.59am for a minute. After the siren, the Tricolour will be hoisted at all government offices and schools.
In the evening, all government buildings, historical monuments, malls and parks will be decorated with lights in Tricolour's colours.
Flags will be distributed to residents a day before so that they can hoist them in their houses on Independence Day.
