NEW DELHI: Murali Vijay usually isn't the most animated guy on the field. On Saturday night, Delhi got to view a different side of the Delhi Daredevils opener when he broke into a jig after a stunning diving catch of Ajinkya Rahane at the Ferozeshah Kotla.
To the onlookers it seemed the company of his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Dwayne Bravo had rubbed off on Vijay. But on the night it was just the desire to do something special for his new team, the Daredevils.

"We knew the wicket was not going to provide a lot of assistance to our bowlers and the batsman had fallen short in posting a defendable target. We went out knowing that we had to assist our bowlers with a few good catches and run outs. That's why I was delighted about the Rahane catch and trying to pump up the team," Vijay told TOI.
The Tamil Nadu opener steadied Delhi's ship on Monday with Dinesh Karthik and looked good for a big one during his 30-ball 35 against his former team. Vijay also showed his innovative side when he unleashed a switch hit against another TN counterpart R Ashwin.
Vijay has plied his trade under MS Dhoni and is currently getting used to life under new skipper Kevin Pietersen. "I don't like to compare teams or individuals. I have fitted in seamlessly in the Daredevils outfit. I think it would be a little more enjoyable if we could score a few more victories this season," he said.
After a slow start to this IPL, Vijay is currently the second-highest run-getter for theDaredevilswith169 runs in seven games, including a fifty against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the UAE leg.
"I think I have been batting well this season. I put up a few good scores in the domestic matches as well. I am looking for some more consistency and winning a few games for my team. If I can score regularly at the top, I am sure I can set up a few wins," the 31-year-old batsman said.
