MUMBAI: The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is upset with reports that the IPL final, to be held on June 1, may be shifted out of the Wankhede Stadium to Chennai due to some venue management issues. "Both
Sunil Gavaskar (BCCI president-IPL), and Ranjib Biswal (IPL chairman) have assured me that the final will be held at the Wankhede," MCA vicepresident Ravi Savant told the TOI on Wednesday.
In fact, it is learnt that the IPL Governing Council (GC) may be forced to move out a Qualifier 1 (May 27) and the eliminator (May 28) from Chennai if the teams playing in those games feature Sri Lankan players.
Meanwhile, Savant said: "We have a contract with the
Mumbai Indians regarding this, so there is no chance that the final will not be held at the Wankhede Stadium. Further, the IPL rules clearly state that the final will be held at the venue of the defending champion."
