Panchkula: Panchkula Administration has taken a step forward in its efforts to make the city greener. They have come up with a new campaign, ‘selfie with tree’, where photographs of locals with newly-planted trees would be displayed on a giant screen on
Independence Day at the parade ground, sector 5.
District administration has issued a WhatsApp number +91-7087204521 where residents can send their photographs clicked with a newly-planted sapling.
The residents should not forget to mention their name and location where it was planted.
Deputy Commissioner Gauri Prasher Joshi said the motive behind the campaign is to make city “greener” and encourage the “participation of youths”. “Youths make an impact and they are the ones who will help the next generation in this initiative,” she said.
However, she also said that the job doesn’t end after planting a tree. “We have to water the plant too. We should also ensure the safety of the tree till it grows.”
Green space is important and school students and villagers will be motivated to take part in this campaign. The administration also seeks the support of NGOs.
