KOLKATA: The IPL governing council awarded the first IPL qualifier on May 27 to Eden Gardens, which lost out on Kolkata Knight Riders' first home match on May 14 due to security related issues in the wake of Lok Sabha elections.
"We have been awarded the first qualifier on May 27 at the emergent governing council meeting," CAB joint secretary Subir Ganguly, who is also the IPL governing council member, said from Mumbai.

He further informed that May 28's play-off match was also shifted out of Chennai, even as Mumbai will now host the eliminator and the qualifier two on May 30.
The M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai was originally scheduled to host the first qualifier and an eliminator in the play-off round but both the matches were shifted after the Chennai Municipal Corporation claimed three stands in stadium were constructed illegally and refused to give No Objection Certificate.
Eden Gardens had earlier lost out on KKR's May 14 match against Mumbai Indians, which was shifted to Cuttack after the Kolkata Police refused to provide adequate security because of the ongoing polls.
