AHMEDABAD: The fact that former Indian captain and Test star
Rahul Dravid is a legend is one thing no one who knows cricket would ever contest. Over 500 international appearances (164 Tests, 344 ODIs and 1 T20) and accumulating nearly 25 thousand runs is no mean feat.
However, Rahul 'The Wall' Dravid had always remained humble and grounded all through his international career.
But what is baffling is how this great man has managed to stay as simple as he was even after retiring and proving to the world that a cricketer can be great and still be a greater human being.
In a recent press conference of Rajashthan Royals in Ahmedabad, Dravid, who is the team mentor, acknowledged the fact that 42-year-old
Pravin Tambe, Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner, is a bigger inspiration than he is.
These golden words could have come out of a great human being's mouth such a Dravid. Even Tambe, who has found glory in
IPL at 42, was at loss of words upon Dravid's praising.
Rahul added he was happy that such an unbelievable success story happened to Tambe. "I am glad this amazing success story happened to Tambe. He deserves it. He has worked hard for 25 years at club-level," those were the amazing words by the former Indian skipper for a man who has started life after 40!
Respect for both the men, Dravid and Tambe, for setting example for not just young cricketers but for the society.
