TIRUPATI:
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has unfurled the tricolor and participated in the state-level Independence Day celebrations at Tarakarama stadium in the holy city of Tirupati. The Chief Minister received the Guard of honor from the defense forces. Many ex-soldiers have been participating in this event. He took the salute from 12 contingents of police forces including Andhra Pradesh Special Police, women's brigade of Prohibition and Excise Department, Police Band, Bharat Scouts and Guide and ex-servicemen.
Different departments participated in the celebrations. State ministers, senior officials and public representatives attended it. Director General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao, the Chief Minister reviewed the parade from a special open-top vehicle.
Addressing on the occasion, the Chief Minister has reminded the services of some of the great political leaders whose sacrifice paved the ways for achieving the freedom of the country from the clutches of the British Raj. Chandrababu Naidu has also reminded the services of some notable persons in two Telugu states and their contribution towards it.
Last year, the state government chose Anantapur for celebrating the Independence Day. After the bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh state, the present AP government has been choosing different places year wise to celebrate the Independence Day.
