Riktha Movie Review {2.5/5}: Critic Review of Riktha by Times of India

A young village boy falls in love with a girl. But, he dies without the girl reciprocating his love towards her. Meanwhile, a heroine and team flee a supposedly haunted set to a guest house for safety. What happens when the dead man's ghost realizes that this girl resembles his love and falls for her there? This film is a horror comedy, a genre that has been a favourite of the frontbenchers lately in Sandalwood. It sees an unlikely hero, which adds to the horror romcom element. The film has some interesting chills in the first half, whole the comedy in the second half adds a contrast. The story is an interesting amalgamation of many elements, but falls prey to some of the trappings of clichés of horror comedies in the end. Riktha has some interesting elements in the way it evenly divides the different elements and weaves it in. But, the narrative gets too jaded at times instead of keeping one hooked. Sanchari Vijay as the diffident yet lovestruck ghost is entertaining. Newbie Advika shows promise, while the rest of the cast do their bit.If you like innovative narrations of horror films or want to see the National Award-winning actor (now credited as National Star) in a new avatar, then you can watch this film. It does manage to entertain to an extent in totality.
