Ranchi Movie Review: Ranchi review: A thrilling tale

Plot: A struggling filmmaker takes up a railway documentary project and ends up getting entangled in a well-oiled crime syndicateReview: Deepak (Prabhu Mundkur) is an aspiring filmmaker. After a successful launch, he is now looking for producers for his second film. He is in love with his associate director Jaanvi (Divya Uruduga). While the search is on, he gets to know that the railway department is looking for a director to helm a documentary for them. Deepak is thrilled and connected with the concerned. There, he is handed out a number to contact. Deepak immediately feels something amiss as soon as he tries to contact the number. Is he right about it?Thrillers work better when they know how to keep the audience glued to the screen till the last minute. Ranchi successfully does that. While the film ends in the first half itself, how it manages to build an intriguing second half forms an interesting premise. A thrilling second half takes the audience towards an enthralling climax.Screenplay acts as an important factor in thrillers and director Shashikant Gatti has delivered it well. Prabhu Mundkur easily scores a century as the lead in the film. He has embraced the filmmaker persona well and has blended it with the thriller story. Divya too has performed well. They both look promising. The supporting cast - Usha Bhandari, Suresh Heblikar, and Totha Roy Choudhary - have delivered their best. Music or cinematography doesn’t stand out, but BGM works in the favour of the film. If anyone is looking to catch a thriller this weekend, then this might be a perfect watch.
