The film also highlights the momentous encounter between Detective Conan and Ai Haibara. While it serves as an excellent introduction for newcomers to the series, devoted followers of the plot may find it less captivating. The film presents the intriguing initial storyline of the Jet-Black Mystery Train, taken from episodes of the Detective Conan series. For those unfamiliar, Detective Conan, also known as Shinichi Kudo, is a high school student with a talent for solving crime cases. However, after being poisoned by the Black Organization, he transforms into a child's body. This film centers around Ai Haibara (formerly known as Shoho Miyano), a former member of the Black Organization with the code name Sherry. She is responsible for creating the drug that turned Shinichi Kudo into a child. Upon discovering that her own organization had killed her sister Akemi, Ai Haibara seeks revenge by consuming the drug and assuming a new identity to avoid detection by the organisation. The story unfolds as the Bell Tree Express embarks on its annual journey, inviting all passengers to partake in a thrilling mystery-solving game. Little does Ai Haibara know that the train's owner is obsessed with the enigmatic Black Organization. Soon, a series of murders grips the train, and Ai Haibara realizes that her life is now at risk as well. The suspense and danger heighten as the plot takes unexpected twists during this gripping train journey. This film disappointingly falls short of its potential, presenting a weak and mediocre plot that lacks the thrilling elements expected of a mystery thriller. Despite featuring two powerful characters in Ai Haibara and Detective Conan, the film fails to fully explore their captivating dynamics. Instead, it primarily focuses on delving into Ai Haibara's past, drawing heavily from the television anime's Mystery Train arc. While the film introduces some new scenes not found in the anime series, it ultimately misses the mark in delivering an enthralling cinematic experience.
