This digital thermometer will revolutionize the way we check body temperature
NEW DELHI: Don't like most thermometers found used to measure body temperature these days? Don't like the fact that you have to either keep them in your mouth or 'insert' them somewhere? You may soon have an option, courtesy Withings. The Nokia-owned company recently introduced Thermo, a digital thermometer which it claims is the smartest and most accurate way of measuring body temperature.
And since Withings recently entered the Indian market with its range of fitness devices, we can expect the company to launch Thermo too in the Indian market
Priced at $99.95, Thermo can measure body temperature even when kept at a distance of 1cm away. Users just need to scan the Thermo across the forehead and get an 'accurate' reading with its 16 infrared sensors that take over 4,000 measurements in two seconds to detect the hottest point.
Thermo measures temperature from temporal artery, considered to be the best place to detect temperature change, as the blood that circulates there comes from the core of the body.
The device has a coloured LED indicator which shows the body temperature. It is linked to the Thermo app which automatically syncs all the readings to the user's smartphone. Based on age, fever history, and symptoms, the Thermo app also gives advanced health advice. Thermo connects via Wi-Fi to sync multiple readings, this means that the whole family can use it to keep an eye on their temperature over time.
Along with measuring the temperature, users can also enter comments, medications, and even photos in any user profile. This helps them see if the treatment is effective and allows them to have a complete history to share with the doctor.
Recently, Withings entered Indian market with the launch of Withings Activite Pop, Activite Steel, Activite Sapphire and Pulse Ox smartwatches. The company also launched fitness bands alongside Withings Home HD camera, Aura sleep monitor, and Blood Pressure Monitor.
Starting with wrist gears, the company's Activite Pop, Activite Steel, and Activite Sapphire trackers are priced at Rs 14,999, Rs 17,999, and Rs 34,999 respectively.
