Raspberry Pi 3 with Bluetooth and WiFi announced
NEW DELHI: The new $35 Raspberry Pi 3 Model B has been announced. The next generation credit card-sized single-board computer now comes with built-in wireless LAN and Bluetooth connectivity. It is available in India via element14 for Rs 3,499.
The new Raspberry Pi version is based on a 1.2GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM2837 64bit ARMv8 processor, running ARMv7 operating system. It has improved power management and an upgraded switched power source - up to 2.5 Amps. This ensures support more external USB devices. It is also compatible with the previous versions of Raspberry Pi.
“Four years ago, on 29 February 2012, we unleashed the original 256MB Raspberry Pi Model B on a largely unsuspecting world. Since then, we’ve shipped over eight million units, including three million units of Raspberry Pi 2, making us the UK’s all-time best-selling computer,” said Raspberry Pi founder Eben Upton.

With support for Bluetooth 4.1 (Low Energy) and wireless LAN (802.11n), the Raspberry Pi 3 can support IOT apps along with streaming to Bluetooth headphones or speakers, Wi-Fi gateways and home cloud storage.
“The new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B offers a higher level of performance than any other Raspberry Pi board on the market. Supported by our growing accessory portfolio, the new Raspberry Pi 3 allows customers to develop specific applications and build new projects,” said Claire Doyle, global head of Raspberry Pi at element14.

The distributor also announced three new accessories- 16GB NOOBS Micro SD card with all startup software, 2.5A Raspberry Pi power supply and new Raspberry Pi 3 case.
