This is how next Google Nexus smartphones may look like
Google’s upcoming Nexus devices, have been in news for months. Now, an image claiming to be of the upcoming Nexus smartphones has surfaced on the internet. The smartphones, codenamed Sailfish and Marlin, are said to be been built by HTC.
The image shared by Android Police website shows the two upcoming Nexus smartphone’s rough design. The report claims that the image is based on the information given by a 'credible’ source and is close to the final product design. However, there's also a caveat that the design might change by the time the smartphones are released later this year.
As seen in the image, the first noticeable thing is the missing camera bump, similar to one we saw in the Nexus 6P and the Nexus 5X. The device will keep the black stealthy colour. At the back, half the area is covered in glass. The glossy area goes right up to the fingerprint sensor, which has a metallic shade. The smartphone’s NFC and other radio connectivity options are said to have been placed under the glass area.
Antennas are also visible, running at the bottom, top and sides. In addition, the ‘Nexus’ branding has been replaced by a ‘G’ logo in the lower back panel. Besides the rear camera, there are three holes whose purpose is unclear at the moment. In the front, there is a single speaker with front-facing camera on top.
Google was recently said to be working on its own smartphone, which is said to launch by the end of this year. The news falls in line with what Google CEO Sundar Pichai told Recode last month. Pichai said that Google is "investing more effort" into smartphones. He, however, also added that Google will continue to support the Nexus devices.
