Intex launches VR capable Aqua View smartphone at Rs 8,999
NEW DELHI: After Lenovo, Samsung and Karbonn, Indian smartphone maker Intex has also forayed into the virtual reality arena, with the launch of its Aqua View smartphone.
In addition, the company has also launched Intex Eyelet Cardboard, which is the first of its kind to be certified by Google. According to the company, it is the second version of Google Cardboard.
Priced at Rs 8,999, Intex's new smartphone competes with the likes of Samsung Galaxy J3, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and Asus Zenfone Max. It will be available at offline retail stores.
Intex Aqua View smartphone features a 2.5D 5-inch HD display of 720x1280 pixel resolution. Running Android 5.1 Lollipop, the smartphone has 2GB of RAM paired with 16GB of in-built storage, and support for microSD cards of up to 32GB in size.
The 4G Aqua View sports an 8MP primary camera and 5MP selfie shooter. Having a 2,200mAh battery, the phone also features a fingerprint sensor.
VR has been creating a lot of buzz off late, with tech giants like Google, Facebook and Microsoft investing huge into the technology.
In January, Samsung launched its VR headset -- Gear VR, in India at Rs 8,200.
Lenovo also said it will sell VR headset at Rs 1,299. Presently, the company bundles a VR headset with its Vibe K4 Note smartphone, priced at Rs 12,499.
Emerging Chinese company LeEco also has plans to bring its VR headset to India later this year.
