Intex launches Aqua S7 smartphone, priced at Rs 9,499
NEW DELHI: Domestic smartphone brand Intex today launched its Aqua S7 smartphone in the country. Priced at Rs 9,499, the device is available in three colours: Champagne, Rose Gold and Dark Blue.
In terms of specifications, Intex Aqua S7 features a 5-inch HD IPS display with 1280X720 pixel resolution. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based smartphone is powered by 64-bit quad-cCore Mediatek processor and sports a fingerprint sensor. Aqua S7 smartphone comes with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage and can hold microSD cards of up to 64GB.
On camera front, there's 13MP rear camera with single LED flash and 5MP front-facing camera. The phone houses a 3200mAh Li-Polymer battery. Intex Aqua S7 also comes with a Matrabhasha service that enables communication in 21 regional languages including Hindi.
The third-largest vendor in India till sometime back, Intex has lately been facing tough times. The company reportedly recently lost as many as 200 employees, including senior management.
According to a report in economic times, "Lack of a product roadmap and strategy for the all-important upcoming festive season, amid supply-side issues that are delaying new phone launches, added to woes at New Delhi-based Intex, which is preparing for a public listing."
According to International Data Corporation, Intex slipped to no. 4 by sales volume, behind Lenovo, with a 7.1% share of the smartphone market in April-June as shipments dropped 9.8% sequentially and 30% on-year.
While Intex is undergoing internal management changes, it is facing stiff competition from other Indian vendors in entry-level and Chinese vendors at the mid-level, analysts at IDC said.
