Huawei launches P9, P9 Plus smartphones with dual 12MP Leica cameras

NEW DELHI: Chinese smartphone maker Huawei has announced its new flagship smartphone P9 and P9 Plus at an event in London. The USP of the smartphones is the dual 12MP rear cameras with Leica SUMMARIT lenses and 1.25-micron pixels promising exceptional image quality in low-light conditions.

The company has priced the Huawei P9 at $630 and it will come in Ceramic White, Mystic Silver, Titanium Grey, Haze Gold, Prestige Gold and Rose Gold color options. On the other hand, the Huawei P9 Plus costs $770 and it will come in Ceramic White, Rose Gold, Haze Gold and Quartz Grey colour variants.

Talking about the specifications, the Huawei P9 has a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 1920x1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system topped with the EMUI of the company and is powered by an octa-core Kirin 955 processor. The handset offers 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage which can be expanded further up to 128GB using a microSD card.


The device comes equipped with a 12MP dual rear cameras accompanied with dual tone LED flash and an 8MP front snapper for selfies. The connectivity options of the handset include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and USB Type C. It also incorporates a fingerprint sensor and packs a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging support.

On the other hand, Huawei P9 Plus features a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display with 1920x1080 pixels resolution. The device comes with hybrid dual sim support and is powered by an octa-core Kirin 955 processor. The handset offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card.


The smartphone comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor and offers 4G, LTE, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and USB Type C as connectivity options. The device flaunts a 12MP dual rear cameras accompanied with dual tone LED flash and an 8MP front snapper for selfies and houses a 3,400 mAh battery.
