HTC 10’s cheaper version to be called Desire 10?

NEW DELHI: HTC is reportedly working on a cheaper version of its flagship HTC 10. The affordable variant of the flagship smartphone is expected to bear the moniker Desire 10.

According to acclaimed tipster Evan Blass, HTC might introduce the cheaper Desire 10 by September. Although there is no other information about the upcoming smartphone, the so called Desire 10 is expected to ditch HTC 10’s metal construction in favour of plastic for cost-cutting.

As far as hardware specifications of the unannounced phone are concerned, they might be similar to those of HTC 10.

HTC 10 was recently launched in India. Having a price tag of Rs 52,990, HTC’s newest flagship sports a 5.2-inch QHD super LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixel resolution. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HTC’s Sense UI layer running on top. The phone has a 12MP UltraPixel rear camera, along with a 5MP selfie shooter.

Boasting a metal unibody design, the HTC 10 supports 4G connectivity and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

HTC 10 includes a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner at the bottom edge of the front pane. The phone comes in 32GB and 64GB variants, with both versions supporting microSD cards of up to 2TB in size. The handset is available in Glacier Silver and Carbon Grey colour variants.
