The Marathon M6 will be going on sale in China starting August 6 at CNY 2699 for 64GB version and CNY 2899 for 128GB version. The larger Marathon M6 Plus will hit the shelves on August 13 at CNY 2999 and CNY 3199 for 64GB and 128GB inbuilt storage variants.
Gionee says that the Marathon M6 houses 9V/2A dual-charge chip that allows for “faster, safer, cooler” charging of the battery. In addition, the M6 can also be used as a power bank for charging other devices. It can charge other smartphones 20% faster than regular power banks.
According to Gionee, its research and development team has created an in-house power-management system that makes use of several sensors and measurements to optimize the two handsets’ power consumption. Also mentioned is that the Marathon M6 and M6 Plus smartphones are “tailor-made to local markets, based on different demands.”
Gionee claims that its new Marathon M6 is the first “smartphone to secure a consumers' privacy with integrated security measures.” The Chinese version of the smartphone will come with a built-in encrypted chip to secure users’ data. However, the international version won't have this security feature. The smartphone also features a fingerprint sensor for enhanced security.
Gionee Marathon M6 features a metal unibody design with a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display of 1080x1920 pixel resolution. Running Amigo 3.2 UI layer baked on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6755 processor clubbed with 4GB of RAM.
The dual-sim handset has a 13MP Sony IMX258 rear-camera, along with an 8MP front-facing shooter. The handset, as mentioned above, is available in 64GB and 128GB in-built storage variants, both of which can be expanded further up to 128GB via microSD cards. The Marathon M6 will be available in Gold and Latte Gold colour variants.
The
Gionee Marathon M6 Plus
on the other hand, features the same specifications as the Marathon M6 but with a larger 6020mAh battery and 6-inch full-HD AMOLED display.
