RK Chaudhury UP''s Minister for Sports & National President, BS-4 on his allegations that Kanshi Ram needs to be ''rescued'' from Mayawati

Is it correct that in a memorandum submitted to the UP Governor on Monday, you have alleged that BSP leader Kanshi Ram faces a threat to his life from Mayawati and that doctors at a leading Delhi hospital are keeping him on sedatives?

Yes, that''s true. But this isn''t my contention alone; Kanshi Ram''s mother, 95-year-old Bishan Kaur and his two brothers have also expressed similar fears. Kanshi Ramji is being held captive by Mayawati at the hospital where we believe that he is administered drugs through injections so that he doesn''t recover at all.

But you have no evidence to support this. And what would Mayawati possibly stand to gain by this, when he has already delegated much of his powers to her?

Following the revelations about her involvement in various scams, Kanshi Ramji was very upset with Mayawati. But when he tried to admonish her, Mayawati got him manhandled by her goons. She knows that if he recovers and makes this incident public, she would lose her support base. She therefore doesn''t let anyone meet Kanshiramji.

So why don''t you try to meet him yourself?

I have tried thrice. On each occasion, I was turned away. Even Kanshi Ram''s mother was denied permission. Eventually she has had to seek a court permission to meet her son. We also believe that the hospital staff are hand in glove with Mayawati. When we tried to move court and get Kanshi Ramji shifted to AIIMS, Mayawati put up eight lawyers to fight the case and ensured that he stays on in that hospital itself.

What would be your next course of action?

We are not going to rest until we rescue our leader. Kanshi Ramji fought for the Bahujan Samaj all his life. Now it''s our turn to fight for him.
