Times of India’s short story writing contest Write India’s author Tuhin A Sinha was seen at the three-day Times Literature Festival which was held in Delhi recently.
In his discussion with the audience, Sinha shared his journey and experience as a writer along with his tips for aspiring writers.
Sinha is a noted Indian author and some of his books including ‘That Thing Called Love’ and the two part series ‘The Edge of Power’ and ‘The Edge of Desire’ have done fairly good with the masses.
Sinha started his writing journey in 2006 and has since then penned down six books.
Talking about fiction writing, the author said that one should focus on the characters and developing their identities but steer away from being judgemental, which could hamper the story. Citing his example while writing his book, ‘The Edge’ series, Sinha further added, “It was very difficult to write a first person woman's account of going through rape in my book... But it happens as you get absorbed with your character.”
When asked about being associated with the Write India Campaign, Sinha said that he thinks it’s a noble idea of grooming aspiring writers by prominent Indian writers coming together at one platform. “I feel great honour to be one of the 11 writers for Write India. The whole idea of grooming budding writers is a noble idea. I think Write India is a superb platform for aspiring writers and a great initiative.”
Apart from writing novels, Sinha is also a columnist, screenwriter and a consultant with Reliance Broadcast. Commenting on it he said, “I have this restlessness to reinvent in every two years.” Sinha’s last book 'Daddy', India's first parenting book from a Dad's perspective, was released in 2014. Currently the writer is on a break as he says, “I'm going through the writers’ block right now, since I don't know what I would write next.”
