From the Grand Canyon to Liberty Island: These UNESCO Sites in the U.S. will leave you mesmerised!

The United States is home to 26 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as of July 2025. Among these some are national monuments, cultural sites, historical beauties and natural wonders. Each of these sites define the uniqueness of the country. From the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty, here are five must-visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the USA.

2/6

Statue of Liberty (New York)

The number one spot is undeniably the iconic Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island. The statue is a symbol of freedom and democracy and was gifted to America in 1886 by France. This gorgeous neoclassical sculpture in New York Harbor is also among the most-visited sites in America and has welcomed lakhs of immigrants who came to the United States through Ellis Island. Today, the statue is one of the most stunning landmarks in the world.

3/6

Grand Canyon National Park (Arizona)

The list won’t be complete with the mention of the Grand Canyon National Park. The whole place looks otherworldly and is renowned for its unimaginable views. The park, spread over an area of 445 km along the Colorado River is an absolute delight. The layered bands of red rock carry nearly two billion years of Earth’s geological history. You can enjoy hiking its trail and make some unforgettable memories.

4/6

Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming, Montana, Idaho)

Yellowstone National Park in Idaho needs no introduction today. But many must not be aware of the fact that it is the first national park in the world designated in 1978. The place is globally-renowned for its geothermal marvels, including the famous Old Faithful geyser, colourful hot springs. One can also spot several bubbling mud pots. Besides natural wonders, the park is also home to unique wildlife including bison and grizzly bears. This park is a biodiversity hotspot.

5/6

Independence Hall (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)

Independence Hall was the birthplace of American democracy. It is right here where the Declaration of Independence (1776) and the U.S. Constitution (1787) was adopted. Once here, you’ll find yourself transported back in time, to the time when the nation’s foundation stone was being laid. The Georgian architecture of the building is remarkable and makes it among the most important cultural landmarks in the country.

6/6

Mesa Verde National Park (Colorado)

Mesa Verde National Park in Colorado is another stunning UNESCO site (designated in 1978) in America that is unmissable for hardcore wildlife lovers. This site is known for preserving the extraordinary cliff houses by the Ancestral Pueblo folks. These dwellings were built between the 6th and 12th centuries and the most renowned one is known as the Cliff Palace. This park is a must-visit for history lovers.
