Valentine’s Day is today, and if love caught you off-guard, or you were stuck chasing the deadlines, it’s still not late. Valentine’s Day doesn’t need weeks of planning, or a five-course dinner that was booked three months ago. Sometimes, the best stories are created spontaneously, and the surprise that lands on your lap. Anybody out there, who is feeling lost and cannot decide how to make their partner feel special, here are some last-minute Valentine’s escapes you can still do today.

Sunset Dash to a nearby hill or fort

There’s something wildly romantic about racing the dipping sun. Pick a nearby hill station, fort, or viewpoint within driving distance and make every minute count. No itinerary required. Just music, snacks, and that golden-hour glow.
If you’re near Nahargarh Fort, the city looks like it’s dipped in honey at sunset. Around Mumbai or Pune? A quick drive to Lonavala’s viewpoints works like magic. Anywhere in India, really every city has that one spot locals swear by.
Watch the sky changing colours, as you hold hands, and enjoy being in the same frame as the sunset.

Check into a boutique stay in your own city

Who says you need flights? Book a boutique hotel or heritage stay in your own city for one night. Switch neighbourhoods, switch routines.
One can opt to check into Neemrana Fort Palace or a cosy villa in your city, whichever is nearby. Order room service. Wear something nicer than your work-from-home hoodie. Pretend you’re tourists who just met at breakfast. The best part of this is zero airport drama, and maximum time spent with each other.

Fancy dinner reservations are overrated. Instead, create your own street-food trail. Pani puri at one stop, momo at another. If you’re in Mumbai, end the night at Marine Drive. In Delhi, a quiet moment near India Gate feels surprisingly cinematic. The formula is simple: drive, park, eat, laugh, repeat. Romance doesn’t always need violins; sometimes it just needs extra chutney.

Book a same-day nature retreat

If both of you are tired of traffic and notifications, go green. Many wildlife parks and eco-resorts offer last-minute availability on weekdays. A spontaneous safari near Jim Corbett National Park or Ranthambore National Park can turn Valentine’s Day into a story you’ll tell for years. Even if you don’t spot a tiger, the thrill of scanning the forest together does something magical to a relationship.
Not near a national park? Find a lake, a trail, or any place green that you can spend some time together. Nature has excellent WiFi that connects people instantly.
