UAE expands visa-on-arrival policy for Indian nationals; know all about it

In a bid to boost tourism, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has launched visa policies for Indian nationals. The country has expanded the list of individuals eligible for visa-on-arrival services. As of February 13, 2025, Indian passport holders who possess valid residence permits, visas, or green cards from six additional countries—namely Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and South Korea—can now obtain a UAE visa upon arrival.
This includes entry points such as Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central, making it easier and more convenient for Indian nationals to travel to the UAE. The update builds on a previous policy expansion in 2024 that allowed Indian nationals with valid tourist visas or residence permits from the United States, the United Kingdom, and European Union countries to also enjoy visa-on-arrival access.
The latest change now extends this privilege to include those with permits from the six newly added countries, further simplifying travel for Indian citizens.

Under these new rules, eligible travellers no longer need to apply for a UAE visit visa in advance. Instead, they can receive their visa at the point of entry, eliminating the need for additional paperwork or waiting times. This move aims to encourage more tourists and business travelers to visit the UAE, enhancing its appeal as a global hub for tourism, commerce, and cultural exchange.
The announcement was made by the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security, which is responsible for overseeing immigration and border control policies in the UAE. The relaxation of visa policies is expected to further bolster the UAE’s relationship with India, which has one of the largest expatriate communities in the country.

The updated rules will not only ease travel for individuals but also make it more convenient for families of UAE residents to visit, thus promoting greater mobility and cultural exchange between the two nations.
For Indian nationals who do not hold valid residence permits or tourist visas from the USA, UK, EU, or any of the newly listed countries, there are still 11 alternative visit visa options available for entering the UAE.
This approach to visa policy reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to enhance its global connectivity and cater to the diverse needs of international travelers.
