Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi issues fresh travel advisory for Indians in UAE: “Avoid unnecessary travel, take due care...”
In a fresh update, India has issued an advisory asking its nationals in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to “avoid unnecessary travel" amid rising tensions across the Middle East. The advisory is issued by the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and comes after experiencing disruptions to air travel in the Gulf regions. As per the update, all Indian nationals living in the UAE have been advised to “avoid unnecessary travel, take due care, remain vigilant, and follow safety guidelines and advisories”. The advisory urges nationals to follow local authorities.
The precautionary advisory comes at a time when the Middle East is going through a hard time. The geopolitical tensions in the region along with military strikes have triggered security alerts across Gulf nations.
It is a fact that the UAE is home to one of the largest Indian communities. There are over 3.5 million Indians living and working here. Given the current situation, the Indian government has taken steps for the well-being of its citizens. Officials have urged citizens to stay calm. They have also urged citizens to avoid spreading unverified information on social media. Indian authorities have also urge citizens to rely only on official communication channels for updates.
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai continue to function normally. For emergencies, Indian nationals can contact the embassy’s toll-free helpline (800-46342), WhatsApp support number, or designated email addresses for assistance.
Meanwhile, a number airlines have either cancelled or limited their flight operations due to airspace restrictions and safety protocols. The ongoing regional dispute has affected travel for thousands of passengers across the Middle East. Most daily activities in cities like Abu Dhabi and Dubai are continuing with caution.
