Delhi-NCR has received light rainfall bringing much relief from the humidity in the region. Those planning to visit Delhi, Noida or Gurgaon this week, it’s a good time but do carry an umbrella. The rain showers have made a comeback to parts of Noida adding a fresh aroma to the cityscape.
As per the
India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi NCR region is set to witness more clouds, dark skies and time-to-time drizzles, and more comfy weather conditions this week. Delhi’s air quality is expected to remain in the ‘moderate’ range on Sunday, with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 101 at 7 AM. Across the NCR, Gurugram registered an AQI of 84, while both Noida and Ghaziabad recorded higher levels at 140.
Rain washedFor commuters, residents and travellers, the sudden drizzles in the National Capital Region has brought much-needed relief after eye-blinding sunny afternoons. The streets looked washed and the air felt soft and breezy as the rain added a touch of beauty to weekend outings. Though it was not an intense rainfall, the drizzle was enough to cool down the surface. For travellers, this meant more pleasant conditions to step outdoors and enjoy leisure activities on a Sunday.
What to expect? The IMD has predicted partly to mostly cloudy skies across Delhi, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, and Noida. Daytime temperature is expected to be around 35°C and the minimum 26°C. While heavy showers are not predicted in the immediate forecast, short spells of rain may occur in the mornings and evenings.
For those exploring Delhi’s prominent heritage sites such as the Qutub Minar, India Gate and Red Fort, this is the perfect time as the weather is likely to feel more comfortable. Similarly, this is the ideal time to enjoy Gurgaon’s open-air cafes and Noida’s malls without bearing the harsh sun.
Monsoon moodThe weather indicates that monsoon activity over north India has left the region experiencing light moisture inflows that create overcast skies and patchy showers. This means travellers are unlikely to face the disruptions that usually come with heavy rains, such as waterlogging or traffic snarls. However, carrying light rain gear remains advisable as unexpected drizzles can still make an appearance.
Travel Tips
Carry umbrella and other rain gear: It is recommended to carry a compact umbrella or raincoat because travellers can experience sudden drizzles.
Traffic issues: While no major flooding is expected, light showers can still create traffic issues. Commuters should keep buffer time when travelling.
Comfort dressing: Lightweight cottons remain the best option, paired with footwear suitable for damp conditions.
Delhi-NCR is entering a phase of cloudy skies, light drizzles, and bearable heat levels. While not a dramatic weather shift, it makes the region more inviting for travelers looking to explore without battling extreme conditions. For now, keep your umbrella close!
