Bara Imambara is the heart of Lucknow’s old city. Built in 1784 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula, Bara Imambara attracts people from across the globe. This architectural masterpiece will leave you shocked for many reasons! The highlight is the Bhul Bhulaiya, a labyrinth of corridors that fascinates every visitor.

Hussainabad Clock Tower was built in 1881 to commemorate Sir George Couper. He was the first lieutenant governor of the United Provinces. Not many must be aware of the fact that this 221 feet tower is also India’s tallest clock tower.

This is the British Residency, a living reminder of India’s First War of Independence. The complex, now in ruins, bears bullet marks and cannonball damage from the 1857 siege. Walking through its gardens, one can almost hear echoes of the past. Today, it serves as a historical monument in the heart of the city.

Chota Imambara was built in 1838 by Nawab Muhammad Ali Shah. It is his mausoleum and during festivals, the building glows with thousands of lights and that’s why it’s called the “Palace of Lights.”

This picture beautifully captures the royal side of Lucknow. Rumi Darwaza is a grand 60-foot gateway often called the “Turkish Gate.” It is inspired by the Sublime Porte in Istanbul and stands as a symbol of Lucknow’s Nawabi era. It’s an 18th-century marvel.
