IndiGo crisis: When travel plans fail, people shine; beautiful moments that won the internet

When things go wrong and the plans fail, human stories of survival often save the day. Or at least make the wait bearable and sometimes enjoyable also. It is a global headline that IndiGo is battling through one of the worst crises ever. From thousands of cancellations to passengers stranded for hours, the heartwrenching stories of chaos, frustration and cluelessness across airport terminals are endless.

However, amid all the anger and irritation, there unfolded some moments of improvisation, humour, and heart touching which won the internet. From passengers performing an impromptu garba at the Goa airport to a man turning Mumbai airport terminal into his “live concert” and a techie couple attending their own reception on a screen, and groups of men passing time by playing games (men will be men!) on their phones, these light and laughter moments have gone viral.

Let’s have a look at some of the most heartwarming moments amid all the ongoing crisis.

2/5

Online wedding reception

This is perhaps one of the most poignant images from the crisis. A newlywed techie couple had to attend their own wedding reception online from Bhubaneshwar. With their IndiGo flights cancelled and family already seated at the venue in Hubbali (Karnataka), the couple joined the celebration all dressed up as a bride and groom via video call projected on a large screen. The couple smiled from the laptop frame and it was bittersweet but brave of them.
While none of these warm moments change the reality, it shows how the small human improvisations can change a tense situation into a fun one. These frames show how travellers turned stressed situations into joyous moments whether by singing or dancing.

Men playing games on their phone

Well, not all coping looked musical, dancey or ceremonial. There were several travellers who simply chose the best way to deal with the entire messy situation was to play games on their phones! A video shows two men completely engrossed in their mobile phones and playing games to kill time. With flights stuck on the ground, stranded travellers turned the wait into a gaming marathon right outside the terminal and the moment captured went viral.

4/5

Live concert at Mumbai Airport

A clip that went viral recently showed a passenger named Zayn Raza at Mumbai airport performing the famous song, “Woh Lamhe”. He is seen playing the song on a guitar while other passengers surround him. It did not fix the problem, but it did create a moment of calm and instantly change the atmosphere. Passengers who were frustrated for the longest time, put their bags down, took their phones out and started recording the moment on their phones.

5/5

Impromptu Garba at Goa Airport

Another cultural moment unfolded at Goa airport. The viral video showed groups of waiting passengers breaking into impromptu garba. It was not the choreography but the positive way of managing a crisis situation like this that won the hearts. A five-hour IndiGo delay at Goa Airport didn’t stop the fun — passengers and crew broke into a spontaneous Garba, turning the terminal into a festive dance floor. The dance has won the internet.
