Arunachal Pradesh to become ‘India’s First Orchid Capital’: 6 must-visit destinations in the state for nature lovers

Arunachal Pradesh is one of the underexplored northeastern states in India. But the state deserves all the attention and this announcement can bring about a significant change in its tourism scenario. The state is all set to become ‘India’s First Orchid Capital’. You’ll be amazed to know that the state is home to more than 650 orchid species available in different colours.

It is a fact that orchids are a rare sight. But not in Arunachal Pradesh! The state is a lesser-known Treasure Trove of Orchids, representing 40% of India’s total orchid diversity. Some of the species are endemic, and are only found here. This makes the state one of the richest orchid regions across Asia.

Understanding the state’s ecological, natural and economic potential, the Arunachal Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Pema Khandu, is promoting orchid tourism on a great level. Integrating orchids with sustainable tourism is a great idea to boost local tourism industry and livelihoods of locals, especially among tribal communities.

So, if you are also an orchid lover, smitten by the flower’s beauty and shades, Arunachal Pradesh should definitely be on your list. On this note, let’s have a look at some of the must-visit destinations in Arunachal Pradesh which are every nature lover’s dream:
