The Schwarzwald, or Black Forest, is shrouded in legends dating back to medieval times. Known for dense pine trees and deep valleys, the forest is associated with witches and werewolves. Hoia Baciu Forest near Cluj-Napoca is famous for UFO sightings, unexplained lights, and mysterious disappearances. Dering Woods is located in Kent, and is rumored to be haunted by ghostly apparitions and strange animal sounds. According to local folklore, the woods is where one encounters ancient spirits, where mysterious disappearances have happened. Some have even gone on to say that they have witnessed shadowy figures roaming the forest at night.

Well, this one is not strange, but has still made it to the list because, why not? This radioactive forest near the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant turned red after the 1986 disaster. Genetic mutation is what comes to mind. For ghost stories and strange phenomena to happen, people need to experience the place first, and since the devastating nuclear disaster, the place has been abandoned.
