When stamps turned timeless storytellers!
The South India Philatelists’ Association hosted its platinum jubilee stamp exhibition, SIPA @70, at Purasaiwakkam, recently. At this three-day exhibition, stamp enthusiasts were treated to a visual journey through India and the world, with rare, thematic and historically significant stamps that reflected nations, cultures and moments frozen in time.
“Stamps are not just pieces of paper; they carry immense educational value. They are part of a country’s history and reflect its cultural, historical and political identity. Earlier, collectors focused mainly on Indian stamps, but over time this has evolved into thematic collecting. This exhibition showcases only thematic stamps, including those on birds, animals and wildlife,” shared Mahesh Parekh, secretary of SIPA.
