The intensity of Ekadantaya Vakratundaya matches that of the Niagara Falls: Aneesh Vidyashankar

He walks as he strums, making his way into people’s hearts. Aneesh Vidyashankar, who is also known as the ‘Walking Violinist’, always has something new and exciting up his sleeve. He recently shot a music video - his dream video - at the Niagara Falls in Canada. Released on the occasion of Guru Purnima, the video is dedicated to his guru – his father - and sees him play the Ganesha vandana Ekadantaya Vakratundaya with the cascading waters of the Niagara in the background.

Aneesh admits that this is something he always wanted to do. “I have been to the US and Canada a number of times in the last 10 years. The beauty of Niagara Falls blows me away every single time,” he says. The idea for the video came along after many of his listeners requested him to shoot a full-fledged music video for one of his songs. So was the choice of song. “I always open my concerts with Ekadantaya Vakratundaya. It’s an intense song that perfectly matches the intensity of the falls,” he notes.
Although he shot only for a day, it was not an easy shoot. “We had to take many permissions for the violin and camera equipment. A part of the falls was covered with barricades, as there was some work going on there,” he says.
