Relationship experts outline the personal details daters most often overshare and provide a checklist of what to avoid posting when looking for love online.

Oversharing can invite scams
While authenticity matters, experts caution that oversharing too soon can expose users to scams or unwanted contact. "One should take it slow and allow time to build trust when meeting someone for the first time — keep your loved ones informed of the details, and keep conversations engaging but avoid sharing sensitive information," says Chandni Gaglani, head of Aisle, a dating app.

Tips for writing a bio that’s both fun and safe
According to experts, one should keep their must-haves to no more than three to set expectations without oversharing. Shalini Singh, founder of the dating community, andwemet, says, “Share only basic, non-sensitive details, such as openness to relocating, the role of faith, or comfort with a partner’s past marriage or children. Add a personal touch with hobbies, quirks, or interests to make your profile inviting while still protecting your privacy.”
