Sreeleela and Ravichandran Ashwin Named PETA India’s ‘Most Beautiful Vegetarian Celebrities’ of 2025
Actor Sreeleela and cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin have been crowned PETA India’s Most Beautiful Vegetarian Celebrities of 2025, in recognition of their compassion for animals and commitment to a meat-free lifestyle.
Sreeleela consistently uses her influence to promote kindness towards animals. A vocal advocate of vegetarianism, she often speaks about her diet in interviews—listing masala dosa and idli among her favourite foods—and regularly shares photographs of herself caring for animals. From spending time with goats and feeding cows to celebrating International Dog Day with her beloved companion animals, the actor’s social media reflects her deep bond with animals.
Ashwin, a vegetarian since birth, is equally known for his empathy towards animals. The acclaimed cricketer treats his dogs as cherished family members and has used his massive social media following to amplify acts of animal kindness, including sharing a widely viewed video of a man performing life-saving CPR on an injured monkey.
“From cows and dogs to monkeys, animals have powerful allies in Sreeleela and Ravichandran Ashwin,” says Sachin Bangera, Vice President of Celebrity and Public Relations at PETA India. “Through both their food choices and their actions, they show that compassion for animals is truly the most beautiful quality of all.”
PETA India notes that its video exposé Glass Walls reveals the harsh realities of the meat, dairy, and fishing industries, where animals are subjected to extreme cruelty—from chickens being shackled upside down and slaughtered, to cows and buffaloes crammed into transport vehicles, and fish left to suffocate or cut open while still alive.
Beyond being an ethical choice, a plant-based diet also offers significant health benefits, reducing the risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity, while helping fight climate change by lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
Previous recipients of the title—known as the Hottest Vegetarian Celebrity Award until 2020—include Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zeenat Aman, Jackie Shroff, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Rajkummar Rao, Alia Bhatt, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonu Sood, Manushi Chhillar, Sunil Chhetri, Anushka Sharma, Kartik Aaryan, Vidyut Jammwal, Shahid Kapoor, Rekha, and Amitabh Bachchan.
