Medical cosmetologist, Dr. Purnima Mhatre, who’s been assigned the task of making the Pantaloons Femina Miss India contestants glow and look gleeful on the big night, doles out the secrets...Age factorIf ‘old age’ needs some preping to look good, young age comes with its own set of skin problems. “In an age group ranging between 18-24 years, which is the usual age of the contestants problems like acne, pimples, black heads and white heads are common place, says Purnima.
Add to it their hectic schedules, make-up demands, erratic sleeping hours and outdoor activities and you’ll easily see their skin reacting with signs like “tanning, under-eye dark circles, pigmentation etc,” shares Purnima.
So, here are the treatments that we provide to the girls for the above mentioned problems:
1.
Acne: Specialised anti-acne creams are massaged into the skin and where the problem is deep, antibiotics are suggested. Micro-dermabrasion and laser photo facials come handy to do away with acne scars.
2.
Pigmentation: Anti-pigmentation creams and skin-brightening massages are given with micro current machines
3.
Tanning: Exfoliation and AHA packs are used to remove the dead skin and sun tan.
4.
Under eye dark circles: Under eye lightening creams are prescribed apart from specialized under eye packs for under eye skin lightening and rejuvenation.
5.
Post wax folliculitis: This is a common problem where post waxing, under-growth of hair inside the skin takes a boil like appearance in which occurs puss formation. In such a scenario, we go for laser removal instead of waxing as the former treatment targets the roots, so that there’s no scope for in-growth and resulting infections.
All the creams and packs prescribed are made from natural products, so there are no side effects or risk of chemical reactions.
Apart from the above mentioned treatments, some natural tips and suggestions given to the contestants are:
1. Drink loads of water.
2. Include lots of fibrous food items and food in rich iron in the diet.
3. At no cost, sleep with the make-up on.
4. A sunscreen of SPF 30 and above is advised to girls with normal skin, while for those with acne problems are prescribed with non-comedogenic sunscreens.
5. Last but not the least, get adequate sleep.
