The lead pair of the upcoming film Love Yatri — Warina Hussain and Aayush Sharma — are poles apart. She is a self-confessed, hopeless romantic and he is a sci-fi and action aficionado. She is quiet, and he is talkative to an extent that Warina calls the ‘garba boy’ a big bully. Throughout their travels across the country, their high school wala pyaar chemistry has stood out at every event. On a visit to the city recently, the love yatris spoke about love, relationships and more.
The name transition from Loveratri to Love Yatri is something that has been making waves. On why the name was changed, Aayush shares, “We are taking baby steps in the industry and we didn’t want to start a controversy with our first film. This movie is about celebration of love and we want to tell people that love is bigger than everything else. However, with due course of time, some genuine concerns about the name giving out a wrong message to people came to light. You see, Loveratri is not even a word; we created it as it was catchy.”
But after these concerns, we decided to tweak the title before it snowballed into a controversy with people protesting and the CBFC stepping in. As I said, it is a beautiful love story and a celebration of love, not of egos. If people still have issues with the name, I’d suggest them to watch the film and embark on a journey of love with us.”
As the actors stressed on celebrating love, they also welcomed the decriminalisation of homosexuality and voiced their support for love over discrimination. Warina says, “We can love anybody we want. Love is equal for all and there shouldn’t be any restrictions on it. I am happy to see something so great happening in the country.” Aayush, who is happy with the verdict too, adds, “Love cannot be categorised in a certain manner. You love your mother, father, siblings and companion. At the end of the day, it boils down to one word- love! And it cannot harm anybody. I’m happy that everyone can now openly express their love.”
In the trailer of Love Yatri, when Aayush’s character beholds Michelle (Warina) for the first time, he is awestruck by her beauty. Ask him about how love happened to him in real life, and he replies, “ I met Arpita at a party. I remember she was seated at a table and giving orders to everybody to make the party happening. She was holding the party. I walked towards her and asked, ‘Are you a Leo?’. She said ‘Yes’. Then I explained to her how I figured it out. That’s how I remember our first meeting.” So, can Aayush figure out people’s sun signs just by looking at them? “I can definitely figure it out by their traits. I can identify a Piscean (Warina), Leo, Scorpio (himself),” he says. Warina adds, “I know how it feels to work with a Scorpio. Aayush is a big bully. There was less romance on the sets and more of his mischievous behaviour.”
Warina has been a model and taking up acting was something she did for growth. She says, “Once I started modelling and realised that it has become a permanent career, I decided on going further down the road. I started training in acting and today, her I am, promoting my first film.” Surprisingly, despite Love Yatri being the debut for Aayush, Warina and director Abhiraj Minawal, the vibe on the sets was quite the opposite of stressful. “We were three hungry people wanting to prove ourselves and whose destinies were connected. We would all come to the set relaxed and joke around between shots. We would pull pranks on the director and on Warina who was our favourite target, and play around with the crew,” shares Aayush. Their bond was such that on one of the days, an unwell Warina dropped by the sets just to support Aayush.
With so much love in the air, we asked the duo what their favourite romantic films are and Warina was quick to reply, “I love Titanic. I am a hopeless romantic and love to see the beauty of love. With our film, our effort is to bring back the innocence and simplicity of love. We wanted it to be natural with the aakhon me aankhe daalne wala kind of pyaar.” Aayush adds, “I have seen Sairat and loved the way the innocence and love were shown. While their love story met with a tragedy, we are celebrating romance while keeping the innocence and simplicity intact.”
