It’s International Men’s Day today. A day that most men will readily and quickly joke as being, one day too short as “the rest of the year belong to women anyway!". But it is a day for men and about men and is about marking the role of men in family, society, community and the world at large. The theme for the day this year is ‘Better health for men and boys’ with the aim to make practical improvements to the health and well-being of the male population.
Since this a time of gender equality and while there’s much written about the question, ‘What do women want?’, we decided to ask that very question to the men for a change. BT takes a look at what the men would like in their lives…

Open roads, sun and some stargazing, too

Scuba cyclist Nishant Patel wants to be able to achieve all he aspires to do
Sameer Khan, a doctor and entrepreneur who’s also an avid biker says, “Food, sleep, open roads and sun," and adds with a laugh, Yes, money, too.”

Nature also plays a role for corporate sales head Unaez Quraishi. He shares, “Stargazing and sleeping outdoors under the open, starry sky, morning walks barefoot on the beach and an afternoon nap in a hammock for me.”
Baljeet Gujral, entrepreneur and start-up mentor has something on his wish list, too. “I would want a better work-life balance because as men we tend to get so occupied and compartmentalise our lives – when it comes to our own work, dealing with teams etc, that we can’t spent much time with our families as we would like. Right now, yes, that may not be so, but once work begins again, we get so swept up in it, that we can’t give much time to loved ones.

For entrepreneur Nishant Patel who also holds a record as a scuba cyclist, what he wants includes, "The ability and hard work to achieve all we dream of, our aspirations."
Siddhartha Shah, a lawyer by profession, adds, “Men need their own space and at the same time, they also need people with open minds, so that there is harmony in everything. Most men I know would want space and peace, so these are primary."
