Mount Carmel College students join hair donation campaign to help cancer patients
Bengaluru recently played host to a noble initiative. Called ‘Gift Hair Gift Confidence’, the campaign saw a remarkable number of college students donating their hair for cancer patients. Organised by The Cherian Foundation, in association with Ladies Circle India. The event was held at the auditorium in Mount Carmel College.
The hair donation drive aims at supporting marginalised cancer patients, by helping them gain confidence. Anusha, a 1st year student from the college, says, “I am feeling very happy to donate my hair for a good cause. Most cancer patients lose their hair because of the therapies they go through, and they do not have the confidence to go out freely. If I can give my hair and help them gain confidence, then I am happy to do it.”
Another student named Dhriti Agarwal, who decided to shave off her head for the cause, says, “Cancer patients are already dealing with so much. If me donating my hair will help them in any way, then I am happy to do it. It was an impulsive decision, but I am glad I did it. Hope, I can influence others also to donate their hair. Little bit also matters a lot to them.”
