Saturday night was ‘Tandoori Night’ for Pune. Not the barbecue get-together kind, but the one where
Himesh Reshammiya added a groovy flavour to the night, complete with a hit of nostalgia, humour and his trademark singing style.
Himesh’s stop in the city, part of his Capmania tour, turned the night into a roaring celebration of the singer’s hit numbers. From the moment he took the stage till the show ended, Himesh sang one hit after the other, with the crowd joining in with each track. Pyrotechnics and choreographed firecrackers added drama to the evening without overwhelming the performance. Guest performer Pragati Nagpal shared the stage with Himesh through multiple duets, infusing freshness into the compositions.
The singer also added a touch of humour to his performance. Before starting Jhalak Dikhlaja , Himesh asked fans, “ Naak se gaaun ya regular gaaun ?” He added, “ Log kehte the yeh gaana sunke aliens aur bhoot aa jaate hai . Bas dua hai, aaj bhoot na aa jaye .” One of the most heartfelt moments came when his wife, Sonia Kapoor, joined him on stage as he sang Main Jahaan Rahoon , drawing loud cheers from the crowd. As the final song of the night was cut short due to concert deadline, the music stopped abruptly but the crowd didn’t. Fans continued singing, carrying the tune till the very last note.
Speaking about his bond with Arijit Singh, Himesh shared that he was disheartened by the recent news of Arijit stepping away from playback singing and even recited a poem urging him to make a return. It was a rare, honest pause in an otherwise high-octane night.
