Kolkata rings in SRK's birthday with a full house for DDLJ at multiplexes

As Shah Rukh khan, the Badshah of Bollywood and king of romance turned a year older, select theatres across the country screened the iconic movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, as part of the celebrations.

On November 2, multiplexes across Kolkata declared a full house for almost all shows as people flocked to the theatres to watch one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most iconic movie. For King Khan fans, it could’ve have been a better way to celebrate his birthday than seeing him weave magic on the big screen, waiting for his lady love to ‘palat’ and later reuniting with her in a way that has been cemented as cult in people’s mind.

The late evening shows of the movie ran a full house while the afternoon shows were filling fast. “It was a full house back in 1995 when the movie released. I was in class 9 then. His charm remains the same even today. It’s been 27 years and the film still attracts viewers,” says Binoy Ganguly, who was at the theatre to watch his favourite movie

“It is a morning ritual for me to tune into Shah Rukh Khan’s songs before I would get ready for the day. His songs, acting and his empathetic and generous personality add fuel to my life. No matter how many times I watch DDLJ, I’ll never be able to get enough of the songs and the iconic dialogues,” says Sneha Chakraborty(49) who was at a multiplex in South City Mall to catch the evening show.

The actor took to his social media to thank his fans for showering him with love and wishes that keep him going all year round.
