It’s a moment of pride for Gujaratis and all those living abroad, particularly in the US, as the second edition of the International Gujarati Film Festival (IGFF) is being organised in Los Angeles and New Jersey.
Movies will be screened from June 7 to 9 at a venue near Disneyland and judged by a jury comprising Gopi Desai, Saumya Joshi and Jay Vasavada. The festival, whose first edition was held in New Jersey in August 2018, is being directed by Umesh Shukla.
To mark the 150
th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, short films based on his ideals have been invited at the festival.
Actor and director Shital Shah who participated in the festival last year said, “It was an excellent effort. We need more such initiatives to showcase the talent as per international standards.”
When asked whether she would be participating in the film festival this year, Shital said, “I wanted to attend it but right now I am busy with the script of my next film, which would be a mix of thriller and a love story. So, it won’t be possible. However, I wish the organisers the best and congratulate them for the same.”
