India’s Digitization has fuelled E-commerce growth: Sachin Verma
Renowned e-commerce expert Sachin Verma, founder of FEDUS, with years of experience in the field, sheds light on the impact of digitization on the e-commerce realm.
India's digitization push has sped up E-commerce growth, penetrating Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities and creating an exclusive economy. Verma explains that digitization has played a crucial role in expanding the reach of E-commerce beyond metropolitan areas, allowing businesses to tap into previously untapped markets. He further emphasizes that this shift towards digital platforms has not only boosted sales but also created employment opportunities and improved overall economic development in these smaller cities.
Currently, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, which were once underserved by traditional retail, are now experiencing a surge in online shopping. During the festive season, 80% of sales come from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
This shift in consumer behaviour has prompted e-commerce giants to invest in expanding their delivery networks and infrastructure in these cities. Additionally, the increased demand for online shopping has led to the growth of local businesses and entrepreneurs, who are now able to reach a wider customer base through e-commerce platforms.
Speaking on E-commerce growth, Sachin Verma, an e-commerce expert, and founder of FEDUS, said, “Being a D2C brand owner, I observed a significant increase in demand for products from Tier II and Tier III cities, contributing to an increase in sales."
Online shopping has become increasingly popular in Tier II and Tier III cities due to increased internet penetration and improved logistics infrastructure.
"Personally, I feel that the next battleground for big e-commerce players is going to be tier 2 and tier 3 cities," he added.
Verma also mentioned that the rise in disposable income and changing consumer preferences are driving the growth of e-commerce in these cities. He believes that by focusing on these markets, e-commerce players can tap into vast, untapped potential and further accelerate their growth.
Sachin Verma is an e-commerce expert with years of experience and the founder of FEDUS, India’s largest direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand of networking accessories and power cords, serving over 10 lakh customers.
Verma's expertise in the e-commerce industry has allowed him to witness first-hand the potential of tier 2 and tier 3 cities in driving growth for big players, with FEDUS, he has successfully capitalized on this untapped market, solidifying his position as a leading figure in the industry.
