This was Chris Lynn’s first visit to Bangalore even though he was part of the previous edition of the IPL. Chris, who has been spending most of his time in Hyderabad, is only too happy to visit a new Indian city. He has also sampled Indian food, especially Hyderabadi cuisine, but his favourite dish is from a completely different part of the country. “My favourite is butter chicken,” says Chris with a glint in his eyes, also denying the fact that Indian food is spicy.
“I don’t find Indian food spicy at all,” he maintains.
This season, the Hyderabad team hasn’t had a great run at the IPL and, in fact, they are at the bottom of the charts. But that doesn’t bog Chris down. The hopeful cricketer says, “If we are able to make it to the final this season, it’s great. Else, we will look forward to the next season.” Chris seems to be in awe of his captain
Kumar Sangakkara and can’t stop raving about him. “He is one of the smartest cricketers around and is a great captain. He is very professional and it’s great to play with him,” says Chris.
While the tight IPL schedule is keeping all the boys on their toes, whenever he gets some time off, Chris likes to chill out on his play station, spend time with his teammates or chat with his coach. “We have really bonded well over the IPL, which I think is a great concept,” says the Australian player. Chris adds, “I hardly watch television and when I do, it is either cricket or a movie channel.”
While Chris hasn’t brought any of his family along to India during this season of the IPL, he is planning to do so next year. He says, “This year, I am all by myself, but next year I will surely get someone along with me.”
